Now, this is jumping the gun a little bit, as the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots still have their Week 16 MNF game left as I write this, and that game does have some potential playoff ramifications. If Buffalo beats the Patriots tonight, they will take over the #2 spot in the AFC by half a game, by virtue of beating the Steelers H2H. Lose, and they would need to beat the Dolphins in week 17, and hope the Browns beat the Steelers, otherwise the Bills will be the AFC #3 seed.
- The Dwayne Haskins experiment is over in Washington. The team has released Haskins after his terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day yesterday, with Ron Rivera reportedly telling him that they are both better off going their separate ways...OUCH. I have to take the "L" on this one. As you guys may recall, prior to the 2019 draft, I thought Haskins was the best of the bunch, better than both Kyler Murray and Daniel Jones...Now, as the #15 pick, he won't be regarded as big of a bust as either Ryan Leaf of JaMarcus Russell, but...it kinda feels like he should be. This guy was a total stud at Ohio State, and just didn't adapt to the NFL at all...but then again, this seams to be a problem with all Buckeye QBs...College =/= NFL. - The Cleveland Browns are in grave danger of completely missing out on the playoffs, despite their red hot start to the season. As it is, the only guaranteed way they make the playoffs is to beat the Steelers in week 17. Lose that game, and they need help. The problem is, the teams they need to lose to back their way in should they lose to the Steelers, happen to play the Bengals, the Jaguars and Texans...Bad things happen when you lose to the Jets, man. - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers just demonstrated how terrible of a coach/GM combination Matt Patricia and Bob Quinn were in Detroit, assembling a defense with no pass coverage ability whatsoever. Tom Brady flat out humiliated the Lions defense with his 1st half performance, and honestly? As a Lions fan, I didn't mind. What Tom Brady did, is demonstrate to the entire world, that Matt Patricia was an abysmal failure. Those were his players. Those were the guys he wanted, those were the guys who he drafted, those were the guys he replaced the good players he ran out of town with...The Lions defense (or complete lack thereof) has his stamp all over it. - Also, what Tom Brady did, was just...beautiful. I can't believe I am going to quote Ryan Leaf, but, the man has a point... "So Tom Brady is just a little over a year younger than me. He was on the opposite sideline vs me in my final CFB game. He just threw 4 TD's in the 1st Half of his 20th season. I strained my calf warming up for my bike this morning." Now, I am a year older than Leaf/two years older than Brady...about 4 years ago, I broke two ribs trying to get my daughter's shoes on her feet. I still don't know how, but it happened. Meanwhile, Tom is 43 years old, is 4th in the NFL in passing yards, 4th in passing TDs, and has a QB rating of 101.0, and people are complaining about him having a DOWN year...Why? Because Tom Brady at 100% is just ridiculous. We have been incredibly spoiled to have witnessed his entire career. What he is doing should not even be possible. - The NFC Playoffs will feature future HOFers Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Russell Wilson. Regardless of which teams get which specific seeds, we are in for some fantastic QB matchups in the NFC. The AFC playoffs will have some good QBs, but the NFC playoffs are jacked... - Trevor Lawrence still has a year of eligibility left. Does he enter the draft and become a Jacksonville Jaguar guaranteed, or take the gamble, stay for his final year at Clemson, and risk getting drafted by the Jets again? Personally, I'd take Jacksonville. Even if I think the team will end up moving to London at some point, it's gotta be better than playing for the Jets... - Believe it or not, here we are, heading into Week 17, and the NFC East is still a 3 team race. The Cowboys, Giants and Washington football team all have a chance to win the NFC East this week. PLAYOFF STANDINGS
