Let me start by saying that despite the constant graphics that show where Drew Brees and Tom Brady rank against each other all time, that Drew Brees' career doesn't need to be validated by comparing him to Tom Brady, nor does Tom Brady's career need to be validated by comparing him to Drew Brees. The graphics that show Brady and Brees as #1 and #2 in all those categories, while fun to look at, are ultimately irrelevant. It doesn't matter which one is #1 or #2 in any particular category. Both of their legacies are sealed. Chances are, that Drew Brees walked off the field for the last time as an active football player. Barring being named as a replacement Pro Bowl player, he will likely never throw another professional pass. Tom Brady is still going, his Tampa Bay Buccaneers are playing the Green Bay Packers this weekend. But, who knows how much longer he will keep playing either? He is signed with Tampa through next year, but let's be honest here...Tom Brady continues to play for no other reason than he enjoys it, not because he needs to earn a salary. He could walk away, and not miss the remaining money on his contract one bit. If he decides it's just not as easy to get up and train any more, that it takes a lot longer to stretch his middle aged muscles, two of the greatest QBs any of us will ever see in our lifetimes, could be gone in the same offseason. Losing Drew Brees is a massive loss to the NFL. Losing both Brees and Brady in the same year would be devastating. OK...now that my QBcrush session has gotten a bit lengthy...how about those Conference Championship games?
